Miss SA, Shudufhadzo Musida has written a children’s book titled Shudu Finds Her Magic. The book will be available in six languages and in bookstores around the country towards the end of August.

Shudu and Wits University caught some heat on social media this week. The institution was accused of giving preferential treatment to Musida, who got to physically be awarded her honours degree in international relations (even after graduating online), while thousands of others only graduated online.

SHUDU’ TO PUBLISH A BOOK IN SIX LANGUAGES

The Wits University and University of Pretoria alumna took to Instagram to share the news with her over 427 000 followers and said “There are some moments in your life which you dream about but then to see it in real life, something tangible, something to hold. Now, that is something.”

The book is inspired by Shudu’s own experience of being bullied as a child and will be published by Jacana Media.

“I am filled with so much pride and joy to present this book authored by myself with beautiful illustrations by Chantelle and Burgen Thorne.
A piece of my heart captured on a page, written especially for kids. A story of struggles and hope. Of falling down and getting back up and of the incredible journey we call life,” Shudu said.

The book will be available in 6 languages and available in bookstores around the country and online towards the end of August.

“I hope that through my story you will find comfort in the fact that you are not alone, that you matter, that the world needs you! None of us are perfect, we were never meant to be and that’s what makes us so special,” she added.

Shudu is also an advocate for mental health. She hosts Mindful Mondays, a programme where she speaks to various experts on a diverse range of topics related to the subject on Instagram on Monday evenings at 19h00.

The programme is hosted in conjunction with the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG).
