Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) revealed that members arrived at the scene at around 00:16. Members met with the owner who lives on the property. The owner revealed to RUSA officers that the occupants who petrol-bombed his taxis were in a white vehicle.

They allegedly threw the petrol bombs directly at the mini-bus taxis before speeding off. Two of the incendiary weapons, however, did not ignite.

A white Toyota Quantum caught alight. The petrol bomb fire was doused by the owner before authorities could arrive. RUSA revealed that a motive for the crime was not immediately established.
