Man accused of killing Michaela Williams, 12, was out on parole for rape
The man accused of murdering 12-year-old Michaela Williams from Grassy Park was allegedly out on parole after raping an eight-year-old girl.

A 48-year-old man accused of murdering of 12-year-old Michaela Williams was allegedly out on parole for a case where he had raped an eight-year-old child, the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court heard on Monday 13 January 2020.
According to Newzroom405, the mother of the eight-year-old said that the man wanted to kill her daughter, but she survived the stabbing incident and is now 23-years-old.
The case has been postponed to 14 April 2020 for further investigation. The case was postponed to allow police to gather DNA evidence.

Body found in Philippi
Western Cape police announced on Thursday 9 January 2020 that the body of the missing 12-year-old girl, from Grassy Park was found in Philippi.
“Western Cape police investigation into the disappearance of a girl (12) who was reported missing in Grassy Park led to the arrest of a suspect (48) and discovery of the body in Philippi in the early hours of this morning,” SAPS tweeted on Thursday 9 January 2020.
An interview with the suspect led to him pointing out where the body was located. The suspect was subsequently charged with murder and a post mortem was done to determine if any further charges could be added.
Michaela Williams goes missing
Police appealed to members of the public to assist in tracing the whereabouts of Williams who went missing on Tuesday 7 January 2020.
Willams was last seen at her Crane Street residence in New Horizon, Grassy Park, and was reported missing in the early hours of Wednesday 8 January 2020.
Spokesperson Colonel Andre Traut said in a statement: “Michaela was last seen in the company of an adult male who also resides in Crane Street, and who is currently not at home.”
Williams was wearing a black miniskirt, an orange top and brown sandals at the time of her disappearance.
Western Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lt General YolisaMatakata has expressed shock that yet another child has died in such a horrific manner.
She thanked those involved in the search and reiterated that the perpetrator deserves a very harsh sentence.
“While this will not bring back the life lost. The lengthy incarceration of the perpetrator will ensure the communities of Cape Town are much safer”, says Lt General Matakata.
A Twitter user in response to Williams untimely death said: “Every week we see accused charged with schedule 1 & 2 offences get bail. Justice system is failing us if SAPS puts docket fwd & NPA proceeds, it’s the magistrates who are not applying their mind & contributing indirectly to continued GBV. Minister of Justice must investigate.”
