Orlando Pirates supporters love player nicknames, thanks to legendary ones like Ephraim ‘Jomo’ Sono, also known as the ‘Black Prince’ or ‘Trouble Maker’ and Ephraim ‘Shakes’ Mashaba. The new generation of great players is headed by Relebohile Mofokeng.

The 19-year-old from Vereeniging, Gauteng, emerged in the 2022/23 season. He became an instant favourite with a 90-minute performance for Orlando Pirates at home to Royal AM in May 2023. Since then, he has never really looked back.

Mofokeng has since played 36 games that include five goals and seven assists. The consistency has only earned him two nicknames. The popular SuperSport TV Zulu commentator Reggie Ndlovu calls him “Last Born” while his colleague, Baba Mthethwa, calls the Orlando Pirates star “Captain yama 2000.”

Staying Mofokeng, new reports have revealed that the Orlando Pirates attacker has earned interest from two clubs in Europe. One is in Scotland, and the other in Austria.

Despite scoring four goals and six assists in 34 games for Orlando Pirates, but his ability to beat defenders is remarkable. According to the Rangers Review, the Scottish giants Rangers and Austria’s Red Bull Salzburg are keeping an eye on Mofokeng. English Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers are also still in the picture after the Orlando Pirates star attended trials at the club in 2023.

“Reports from Scouts in Attendance claim Rangers are on of a number of European teams interested in Orlando Pirates winger Relebohile Mofokeng,” Rangers Review reported.

“They report that the Ibrox club are keeping tabs on the emerging talent, aged 19. He has already caught the eye of clubs in England. He had a trial at Premier League side Wolves, before also being offered the chance to impress at Reading.

“Al-Ahly and Red Bull Salzburg are among the other clubs who hold an interest,” the report added about the Bucs youngster.

Orlando Pirates have reportedly signed Kegan Johannes from SuperSport United for next season.

According to the seasoned and well-trusted journalist, Robin Duke-Madlala of Sportswire, the Buccaneers have agreed and signed a pre-contract deal with SuperSport’s 23-year-old right-back Johannes. The Bishop-Lavis-born star can also play as a central defender or defensive midfielder.

Despite signing a new deal with Matsatsantsa a Pitori in early 2024 that will end June 2002, Johannes, who is a graduate of the Cape Town Spurs Ikamva academy, has moved to Orlando Pirates on undisclosed terms. – READ THE FULL STORY HERE.
