Meat king Jabulani “Mjay” Zama, who owns one of the most popular Shisa Nyamas in South Africa, has died.

MEAT KING JABULANI ‘MJAY’ ZAMA HAS DIED

According to reports, he died on Saturday evening after he suffered a severe stroke.

Shortly before his death, the Eyadini Lounge announced that due to his health condition and the road to recovery, Eyadini Lounge would be temporarily closed until further notice.

HE REPORTEDLY SUFFERED A SEVERE STROKE

Jabulani “Mjay” Zama was born and bred in Umlazi. He started out as a policeman and then went into the towing business, driving his tow trucks in Umlazi.

Zama later ventured into the hospitality industry with Eyadini Lounge. The venue was built from scratch in 2009. The business only started operating in 2011.

In 2019 this businessman made headlines when he auctioned his luxurious Rolls-Royce Phantom and Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE 63 to pay his hefty debt to SARS.

Rumours were doing the rounds that Sars raided Zama’s house to repossess luxurious cars after he defaulted on his monthly installment.

HE MADE HEADLINES IN 2019 AND HAD TO AUCTION SOME OF HIS CARS

Zama then told the media that this was a smear campaign as other business owners were jealous and sabotaging his business, which had been in existence for almost seven years.

Eyadini Lounge is one of the prime entertainment hubs in the country, famous for hosting big events such as the Metro FM annual event and Heatwave.

It has hosted businesspeople and politicians, such as President Cyril Ramaphosa and ANC treasurer-general Paul Mashatile.
