Matric results 2022: Pass rate increases by 3.9% – Here’s how it compares to the last decade

The matric pass rate of the Class of 2022 has been released and it’s higher than last year. Here’s how it matches up with the last decade.

Education Minister Angie revealed the matric pass rate for the class of 2022 on Thursday, 19 January.

WHAT IS THE MATRIC PASS RATE FOR 2022?

The official pass rate is 80.1% in 2022, compared with 76.4% in 2021.

Motshekga said 920 634 learners enrolled to write the National Senior Certificate (NSC) examination, including 168 631 part-time candidates. The class of 2022 was the largest cohort of matric candidates to date.

Motshekga praised the class of 2022 for its resilience, saying performance remained relatively despite the challenges this cohort experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The matric class of 2022 must be commended for maintaining the trend of improving the pass rate, said the education minister.
