Matric 2023: Education MEC discourages Pens Down parties and ripping off uniform

Free State MEC for Education Makalo Mohale has rather encouraged the matric class to donate its uniform instead of ripping it off.

Free State Education MEC Makalo Mohale has called on matric learners not to participate in the pens down parties following the completion of the exams.

MEC MOHALE REFLECTS ON MATRIC 2023 EXAMS

Mohale said the Free State Department of Education is pleased with the smooth running of the 2023 National Senior Certificate (NSC) Examinations, which started on 30 October and concluded yesterday, Wednesday, 6 December.

“The conduct, administration and management of the NSC examination has gone extremely well.”

“As we congratulate all our learners for reaching this milestone, we want to urge them to continue to conduct themselves appropriately beyond this point,” he appealed.

PENS DOWN PARTIES AND RIPPING OFF UNIFORM DISCOURAGED

He added that the department strongly discourages learners from partaking in pens down celebrations or matric rage parties as they pose a danger to their lives.

Furthermore, Mohale said learners are discouraged from ripping off their school uniform as a sign of celebration upon finishing their schooling era.

“We advise all learners to donate their uniforms to the needy,” he encouraged.

The MEC also urged learners to conduct themselves responsibly during the festive season, remain focused and be ready for tertiary education and other endeavours in 2024.

He also called on learners to celebrate the end of this era of basic education positively with family and friends.

THE RELEASE OF THE MATRIC RESULTS

The results will be released by the Minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekga on 18 January 2023.

Meanwhile, the provincial results will be released by MEC Mohale on 19 January at the Annual Well Done Function which will be held at the Central University of Technology in Bloemfontein.

EASY STEPS TO CHECK MATRIC RESULTS ONLINE

To check Matric results online, visit the Department of Education’s Matric portal. Enter your examination number, confirm personal details, and your results will appear.

For IEB or SACAI Matric systems, check results online using the respective portals; all you need to do is enter your ID and examination numbers for a similar process.
