A 26-year-old man has been sentenced to three life terms for abducting, raping and murdering a four-year-old girl.

Bafana Mans reportedly abducted the daughter of his colleague in the North West.

Mans’ sentencing

Advocate Xolisile Philisane urged the High Court in Vryburg to not move away from the minimum prescribed sentence.

He explained that the horrific offence was committed on a helpless minor. Philisane stated that Mans showed no remorse for what he did.

He also did not apologise to the family of four-year-old Tshimologo Lotshabeng.

When did the incident occur?

On 16 May 2021, Lotshabeng’s naked body was found in bushes at the Kgomotso village, near Taung.

TimesLIVE reports that SAPS spokesperson Colonel Adele Myburg said that Mans had been behind bars since his arrest. He was arrested at his home in Jan Kempdorp, Northern Cape, last year.

“According to evidence presented before the court, Mans was a colleague and one of the people who accompanied Lotshabeng’s mother from a tavern to her friend’s house. He waited until the mother fell asleep, then kidnapped the child and took her to nearby bushes where he raped and killed her,” said Myburgh.
