LAM–Mozambique Airlines’ new route

Cape Town and Maputo, Mozambique officially have a new connection, now that LAM–Mozambique Airlines have kicked off their newest route.

The inaugural flight took place on Tuesday, 12 December, touching down in the Mother City as part of its strategy to be a “strong competitor in the region, Tourism Update reports.

The flight departs Maputo on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, and returns from Cape Town on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Cristovao Gemo, Consul General of Mozambique in Cape Town, said that the launch of the route was a bridge between the two nations.

“Cape Town, known for its breathtaking landscapes, rich history and warm hospitality, has long been a sought-after destination for travellers from all corners of the globe. On the other hand, Maputo with its pristine beaches, vibrant markets and rich culinary diversity offers an experience that is both enriching and unforgettable,” Gemo said, as per tourism update.

REGIONAL CONNECTIONS

LAM-Mozambique Airlines also resumed connecting flights from Johannesburg, South Africa to Lisbon via Maputo on 12 December.

The airline already has a daily flight from Johannesburg to Maputo, but now passengers will have the option to connect to Lisbon from Maputo on departing flights on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

These thrice-weekly flights take off from Johannesburg at 19:30 and land in Maputo the same day, with the Lisbon-bound flight then departing at 22:00, arriving in the Portuguese capital the following morning at 06:55.

Return flights from Lisbon on LAM–Mozambique Airlines then departs on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 16:00,with a connection from Maputo to Johannesburg the next day at 06:55, arriving at 08:05.
