Kaizer Chiefs have been involved in SIX goalless draws in the DStv Premiership this season. When last did that happen?
Chiefs and Pirates both produced poor results on the penultimate day of the season. Amakhosi drew 0-0 at home against Polokwane City while Pirates lost 1-0 at home to TS Galaxy. The Buccaneers have hit a poor patch of form at the worst possible time. Consecutive 1-0 defeats against Richards Bay and TS Galaxy mean their CAF Champions League qualification hopes aren’t in their own hands. The Sea Robbers face SuperSport United on the final day of the campaign. Second-placed Stellenbosch, one point ahead of Pirates, meet Richards Bay away from home. If Stellenbosch match or better the Pirates result, they’ll seal CAF Champions League football for next season. Pirates also face Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup final on 1 June.
Club captain Itumeleng Khune signed off with a clean sheet after his substitute cameo appearance against Polokwane. According to transfermarkt, Khune has made 346 appearances for Chiefs. In that time he has kept 152 shutouts. A stunning record to go with his seven trophies.
The Glamour Boys have been involved in SIX goalless stalemates in the league this season. Those were against Chippa United, Royal AM (twice), Swallows, Cape Town City and now Polokwane. Amakhosi also registered a 0-0 draw with lowly 10-man Milford in cup competition before going out on penalties.
