SASSA grant beneficiaries that are collecting non-R350 grant payments can still do so at South African Post Office (SAPO) branches.

PAYMENTS THAT CAN BE COLLECTED AT THE POST OFFICE

SASSA said regular social grants – pension, disability and children’s grants – would be paid from the second day of the month, if possible.

In July, the second day of the month falls over a weekend. Therefore, the first grant will be paid out on the following work day.

Payments start earlier in the month than they did in the past but they still follow the same order. Older people and associated grants will be paid first followed by the others.

SASSA GRANT PAYMENT DATES FOR JULY

Older persons – Monday, 4 July

Disability grants – Tuesday, 5 July

Children’s grants – Wednesday, 6 July

The post office no longer pays out the COVID-19 social relief of distress (SRD) and its beneficiaries are encouraged to collect from approved retail outlets or have it deposited directly into their bank accounts.

The R350 grant was finally paid to beneficiaries last week after two months of non-payment. However, nearly half of the more than 10 million applicants were rejected.

The appeal process started on Monday, 27 June and rejected applicants who wish to appeal are urged to do so via the Department of Social Development Independent Tribunal via the following website – https://srd.dsd.gov.za
