‘Kelly knows something’: Malema on murder of Senzo Meyiwa
EFF leader Julius Malema says that personally he is more than convinced that Kelly Khumalo knows something about the murder of Senzo Meyiwa.

An old clip of Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema weighing on the murder trial of former Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa has resurfaced.
This comes as data analyst and investigating officer Colonel Lambertus Steyn revealed that singer Kelly Khumalo was in contact with some of the accused in the murder case.

As previously reported, Meyiwa was shot and wounded on 26 October 2014 at the home of his girlfriend and singer Kelly Khumalo in Vosloorus.
Five men are on trial for the murder of the soccer star, Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, Bongani Ntanzi, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, Mthokoziseni Maphisa and Fisokuhle Nkani Ntuli. They face charges of premeditated murder, attempted murder, robbery with aggravated circumstances, possession of firearms without a licence and possession of ammunition.

In the clip which is from a media briefing held by the EFF in 2022, Malema says they hold a strong view that Meyiwa was killed and the people who were in the house know killed him.
“We are more than convinced, personally I am more than convinced that Kelly knows something. I am more than convinced that she knows something. There must be a way that she must be held,” the leader said.
SINGER IN CONTACT WITH ACCUSED
On Thursday, 27 July, Steyn told the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria that Khumalo and accused 5 were in communication and the last call was on 15 October 2014, just days before Meyiwa was killed.
The data analyst also told the court that Khumalo’s cellphone which was reportedly stolen when Meyiwa was shot, was in the vicinity of a hostel in Vosloorus around 22:43 the same night. Steyn also revealed links between accused 1 and Khumalo after the incident.
