isiZulu fans of SpongeBob SquarePants can now watch the cartoon sponge in their mother tongue.

A dubbed version of the show has been on the air since 2022, though many South Africans still haven’t seen the Zulu version of their favourite cartoon yet.

According to the official YouTube channel, the SpongeBob SquarePants show made its isiZulu debut in July 2022.

Everything about the show remains the same, from Sandy to Bikini Bottom. The only remarkable difference is that the show has been translated and voiced-over for Zulu-speakers.

If you switch the television on late at night and SpongeBob is suddenly speaking Zulu, you haven’t reached an alternate universe. It’s just another version of the show!

Nickelodeon Africa launched the show in 2022, and the show has already picked up some local fans both young and old who tune in for new episodes.

There’s no news so far on which other shows might be translated in the future just yet.
