Is Grace Mugabe gunning for Bo

Is Grace Mugabe gunning for Bob’s job?

Her husband might believe he’ll rule Zimbabwe forever, but the first lady of Zim has her sights set firmly on succession.

Is Grace Mugabe gunning for Bo

It seems being part of Zimbabwe’s ‘interesting’ political system, as leader of Zanu PF’s women’s league, isn’t enough for Robert Mugabe’s wife. After a landslide victory and subsequent entry into Southern Africa’s least profitable nation, Grace has turned her attention to Vice President Joice Mujuru. Mujuru, who in her election to office enjoyed Grace’s support, has suddenly become the target of Mugabe number 2’s attacks.

Grace is a staunch supporter of Justice Minister Emmerson Mnangagwa, who’s supporters dominate eight of Zimbabwe’s 10 provinces. Mujuru, on the other hand, has seen her support dwindle as of late.

First Lady Mugabe was speaking at a women’s league conference at one of her orphanages, not to be confused with any other state institution in Zim. In her first public attack on Mujuru and in true Mugabe form, she expressed concern over Mujuru’s loyalty to the president and the possibility of a coup. Good thing Ma Grace has the support of the justice ministry, else she might have to resort to actual campaigning against Joice.

While it might not be 100% clear whether Grace Mugabe wants Robert‘s job, she sure does want Joice’s, as she herself has said that she is keen to assume power so that she can protect her family and vast business empire. She does not believe Mujuru will protect her interests.

Careful Joice… seems your head is on the block.
