Home Affairs official who appeared on ‘Sizokthola’ suspended

An immigration officer employed by the Department of Home Affairs appeared on Sizokthola for allegedly selling IDs for R50 000.

The Department of Home Affairs has confirme that an immigration officer who appeared on Moja Love’s drug-busting show ‘Sizokthola’ for allegedly working with drug dealers has been suspended.

The official who is based in the North West appeared on the TV show in an episode that aired on Sunday, 18 June.

With the help of police officers ‘Sizokthola’ host, Xolani Khumalo raids businesses and buildings in the country exposing drug dealers.

On Sunday’s episode, the immigration officer was found with screenshots of official Home Affairs documents in her phone and admitted that she is not allowed to have them. When questioned about it, she said she was checking if papers for her husband’s friend were ready.

The woman was also found with multiple IDs, including two belonging to her, two belonging to her daughters, two of her husband, and one belonging to the woman who is currently married to her husband.

Home Affairs spokesperson Siya Qoza told PowerFM that the woman is currently on suspension and that officials within the department are investigating further to make sure that the woman faces the full might of the law for her wrongdoings.

“There’s an element of a criminal offence because your listeners who would have seen the show would have been aware that she was arrested for possession of drugs,” Qoza told the radio station.
