THE BRITISH TOURIST IS A DIABETIC

Reaction Unit SA (RUSA) spokesperson Prem Balram said they are urgently seeking public assistance in locating McCullagh.

“McCullagh a British National arrived in South Africa from the Isle of Man and spent a few days in Johannesburg- Gauteng. He arrived on a local flight on Saturday evening and landed at King Shaka International Airport after midnight.

“McCullagh hired a grey Suzuki Swift with registration number JV61ZPGP from Avis Car Rental and headed towards Durban North. He has not been seen since.”

THE LAST CONTACT WITH HIM WAS ON SUNDAY MORNING

Balram said contact was made telephonically on Sunday at 09:15.

“McCullagh informed a tow truck driver that he was stuck in a sugar cane field in an unknown place after taking a wrong turn during heavy rains.

“He requested a diet coke to be brought to him during his rescue. The phone disconnected, and he had not been heard of since. McCullagh has Parkinson’s Disease and is Diabetic,” Balram said.

HE IS STUCK IN A SUGAR CANE FIELD IN AN UNKNOWN PLACE

Cameras have captured the grey Suzuki Swift in the Gateway – Umhlanga at 02:30 on Sunday.

He said the rental company had indicated that the vehicle was not fitted with a tracking device.

Reaction Officers and paramedics are currently searching for McCullagh, believing that his health may have rapidly deteriorated.
