Gauteng to experience coldest WEEK in years

Single-digit daytime temperatures are expected in Gauteng and this has prompted the City Power to warn customers of electricity outages.

Gauteng residents will experienced the coldest week of 2023 starting from Sunday when the temperatures drop below the freezing mark.

This is due to the cold front that is expected to hit the northern part of the country on Sunday.

As a cold front passes over the provinces, The South African Weather Services issued multiple warnings especially over the Western and Northern Cape. The country will experience cold, wet, and windy conditions and even snowfall for parts of the country.

Gauteng to experience the biggest cold front in years.

For Gauteng, most places could see single-digit maximum temperatures for the first time this year.

“A poweful cold front with sub-polar air to hit Gauteng late on Sunday. Single-digit daytime temperatures are possible for most of the province on Monday,” SA Weather Service said in a statement.

For Johannesburg, temperatures are set to reach a high of 9°C with a minimum of -3°C on Monday. Pretoria’s temperatures are slightly warmer compared to Johannesburg with a maximum of 13°C.

For the rest of the week, temperatures will range 10-15°C as Gauteng experience the worst cold front in years.

City Power and Eskom have warned customers of electricity outages as the cold front makes way.
