Free State shines at SAPS National Excellence Awards

Free State’s officers, recognised at the SAPS National Excellence Awards, displayed exceptional achievements.

Officers from the Free State region were in the spotlight at the SAPS National Excellence Awards, showcasing remarkable achievements.

Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane, the Provincial Commissioner of Police, personally congratulated the exceptional individuals honored at the event. The event was held in Midrand, Gauteng.

Recognising not only outstanding performance but also a steadfast commitment to upholding the highest standards of service and professionalism within the South African Police Service (SAPS), these awards celebrated recipients who exemplified dedication, integrity, and leadership in their respective roles.

Lieutenant Colonel Junior Santi honored

Among the distinguished awardees was Lieutenant Colonel Junior Santi, representing the Tactical Response Unit Bloemfontein, who clinched the coveted High-Risk Member of the Year award (Level 8 – 12) and also received the prestigious Laureate Award, which includes a brand-new vehicle.

Constable Mathaha Lekhooa, a member of the Navalsig Detectives, distinguished himself in the Police Minister’s Special Award Category. His diligent investigative work in a high-profile case earned him the esteemed rank of Warrant Officer.

Captain Pieter Drury, deployed with the Bloemfontein POP Unit, emerged victorious in the Medium Risk Member of the Year category. His exemplary dedication and skill were evident in his achievement.

Captain Drury, as the operational commander at the illicit mining operation “knock out” in the province, orchestrated the successful arrest of 1936 suspects in 892 reported cases through strategic planning and command.
