The Gauteng Provincial Government, in partnership with Diageo South Africa, has launched the “Wrong Side of the Road” campaign, designed to provide free learner’s licenses to disadvantaged youth in Gauteng.

This initiative, led by Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi, serves a dual purpose.

“It’s the first step toward obtaining a driver’s license, improving employability, and it actively promotes responsible driving during the learning phase to enhance road safety,” said Lesufi.

The initiative has seen an overwhelming response, with more than 130 000 applicants. The original target was 40 000.

To address data limitations, local libraries with free Wi-Fi are encouraged for application.
