Even though King Charles has never really wanted to live at Windsor Castle, the monarch is reportedly overhauling the property.

KING REVAMPING WINDSOR CASTLE

It seems King Charles has decided to make Windsor Castle a more permanent residence.

This is after workers have reportedly started work on sprucing up the property, as per MailOnline.

The renovations are raising some eyebrows after it has previously been reported that the monarch doesn’t love the noise of the aircrafts flying over the castle on their way to Heathrow.

Workers have also been spotted working on the late Queen Elizabeth’s private apartments. According to MailOnline, King Charles is adding his favourite art and antiques to the living quarters.

Before becoming King, Charles has, however always chosen to reside at Highgrove.

Seen in several episodes of The Crown, Highgrove House is referred to as Charles and Camilla’s “family home,” Town&Country reports.

King Charles reportedly bought the Gloucestershire property with its vast grounds in 1980, per the publication.

“The garden at Highgrove really does spring from my heart and, strange as it may seem to some, creating it has been rather like a form of worship,” King Charles said during an interview in 1993.

To bring a touch of Highgrove to Windsor, the king has reportedly planted more trees. He is also installing several electric motor charging ports.

HOME TO REIGNING MONARCHS

According to the Royal Collection Trust, Windsor Castle is the world’s oldest and largest occupied castle.

The castle is open to visitors throughout the year, and has, according to the site, been home to 40 monarchs for almost 1 000 years.

Buckingham Palace reports that the castle is used both as a private home and an official Royal residence where specific formal duties are undertaken.

“The King is making the castle more to his taste, as would be expected, and bringing in some of his favourite pieces of art and possessions to make it feel more homely,” a source told MailOnline.

King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla have reportedly moved into Adelaide Cottage for now.
