‘Epitome of tenacity’: KZN Premier mourns passing of Eyadini Lounge founder

KZN Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube has described late Eyadini Lounge founder Jabulani ‘Mjay’ Zama as a visionary and a trailblazer.

KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Nomusa Dube-Ncube has described Eyadini Lounge founder and woner Jabulani Mjay Zama as the epitome of tenacity and determination.

Zama passed away on Saturday, 12 August after suffering a severe stroke.

In a statement, the shisa nyama which is one of the prime entertainment hubs in the country, famous for hosting big events described Jigga Money as an amazing soul full of love, joy and faith.

“Due to the sudden news Eyadini Lounge will be temporarily closed until further notice. We would like to extend our greatest gratitude to everyone for always being by his side. His family requests to mourn privately and funeral details will be confirmed,” the establishment said.

Reacting to the news, Dube-Ncube said they are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of a trailblazer and visionary, Jabulani Mjay Zama, whose establishment, Eyadini Lounge, transformed not only the fortunes of KwaZulu-Natal tourism, hospitality and entertainment sectors but transcended national boundaries.

Dube-Ncube said the growth of township tourism in our province owes a lot to the likes of Mjay and Eyadini Lounge.

“Mjay contributed immensely to the growth of township economy, and his business created employment for many people down the value chain and put food on the tables of many families who hail from Umlazi and surrounding areas. In addition to his business acumen and philanthropy, Mjay was passionate about giving back to his community. He was also a business mentor to up and coming young entrepreneurs,” the Premier added.
