Eskom’s axed CEO has been given an even better job at the NPC

The folks over at Eskom must be feeling like right tw*ts at the moment, with their old boss Tshediso Matona being appointed to an even better position by Parliament.

Eskom’s axed CEO has been give

Matona – who served only about six months at Eskom, but was paid out millions for doing basically nothing – was ousted by previous Eskom board chairman Zola Tsotsi – what’s in a name, really – who also lost his job after other members pushed him out, but not before coining a few million as his golden handshake.

According to IOL, Matona will serve as the National Planning Commission’s (NPC) secretary after President Zuma allegedly personally offered his condolences for the way he was treated by Eskom.

Zuma denied any reports that he apologised to Matona, after the Mail&Guardian claimed that the two had a meeting at the Union buildings recently.

“The President does not run state-owned enterprises. The enterprises report to line function departments. All career incidents of officials and executives in these departments are managed by the Boards and/or the Ministers responsible,” said Zuma.
