Eskom says Stage 2 load shedding will continue to be implemented until further notice.
This was confirmed by the embattled power utility on Sunday, 28 January.
LOAD SHEDDING FOR THE WEEK
In a statement, Eskom said despite the return to service of five generating units in the last 36 hours, the need to replenish and stabilise the emergency reserves in preparation for the weekday electricity demand as well as the marginally deteriorated available generation capacity necessitates that Stage 2 load shedding continue to be implemented until further notice.
“Eskom will monitor the system closely. A further outlook will be provided on Wednesday afternoon, or any changes will be communicated if required,” the power utility said.

- Make use of surge protection: Electric surges are one of the biggest causes of damage to equipment during a power outage. Installing a surge protection device can help minimise some damage in unforeseen situations. - Ensure that your alarm system is working and the backup battery is fully functional to provide power to the system in the event of load shedding.
- Spare torch or headlamp: Keep a torch in your car if you arrive home at night during a power outage. Most smartphones have built-in torch or torch apps, which come in handy during unexpected power outages.
