Eskom announces load shedding ALL weekend: Here’s the schedule

Eskom has announced that load shedding will continue all weekend due to high levels of breakdowns and delays in returning units to service.

Eskom on Friday announced that load shedding will continue this weekend due to high levels of breakdowns and delays in returning some units back to service.

The national power utility said that load shedding will follow this schedule:

Saturday, 5 November

  • Stage 2: 00h00 – 05h00
  • Stage 1: 05h00 – 16h00

  • Stage 2: 00h00 – 05h00
  • Stage 1: 05h00 – 16h00
  • Stage 2: 16h00 – 00h00

Eskom said it would publish a further update as soon as there are any significant changes.

“Since Thursday morning, a generating unit each at Camden, Duvha, Kusile, and Majuba power stations were taken offline for repairs. The delays in the return to service of a generating unit each at Majuba and Tukuta power stations have contributed to the generation capacity shortages,” it said in a tweet.

In some good news, the utility announced that a generating unit at Hendrina Power Station that was done is now back to service.

The national power utility is currently sitting with 4,836 MW on planned maintenance, while another 14,509 MW of capacity is unavailable due to breakdowns.

At the time of publishing, the City of Cape Town had not amended its schedule for the weekend.
