Education Department warns against unaccredited matric rewrite institutions

The Education Department has warned the matric of 2023 to not fall victim to unaccredited matric rewrite centres.

With the release of the matric results almost upon us, the Education Department in KwaZulu-Natal has warned matriculants to not fall victim to unaccredited matric rewrite centres.

MATRIC REWRITE WARNING TO ALL 2023 CANDIDATES

“The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education (KZNDOE) wishes to inform and caution members of the public against registering to write their Examinations at unaccredited private centres or institutions,” KZNDOE warned.

“Candidates are urged to visit the UMALUSI website to access a list of all private institutions accredited to offer any UMALUSI-associated qualifications. Alternatively, you can call UMALUSI on 012 349 1510 and press the relevant options,” the Education Department advised.

EDUCATION DEPARTMENT ADVICE AGAINST BOGUS CENTRES

The Education Department further cautioned matric candidates about being taken for a ride by these bogus rewrite centres.

“It is important not to allow unregistered and unaccredited institutions to thrive at the expense of unsuspecting candidates,” KZNDOE further advised.

The Minister of Basic Education, Mrs Angie Motshekga, will announce the outcome of the examinations on 18 January 2024.

THE RELEASE OF THE MATRIC RESULTS

Results will be released to candidates on 19 January 2024. Some results may not be available because of technical issues.

Candidates are guided as follows after the release:

  • Candidates are urged to get their statements of results from their school/centre where they wrote the exams. Candidates’ results will also be available on this website from 6am on 19 January 2024.
  • Result queries should be submitted for investigation within 30 days after the release of results.
  • Candidates must ensure that names and identity numbers reflect correctly on their statement of results and report any required corrections to the Department before 21 February 2024.
