Dunoon protest: Empty bus and truck set alight
The bus had been emptied of passengers before it was set alight in Dunoon. City Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that no one was injured.

MyCitiBus issued an alert on Saturday that all routes operating on Omuramba Rd in Dunoon were deviated to due “a truck set alight on Freedom Way.”
“Omuramba Road closed due to a truck set alight on Freedom Way, all routes operating on Omuramba Rd are deviated via Racecourse Road, Montague Drive and Bosmansdam Road”.

This followed after a protest turned on violent; a bus and a truck were set alight. Fire services from Milnerton and Brooklyn responded to put out the flames and no injuries have been reported.
Police had to escort fire service to the scene. As reported by Eyewitness News, no arrests had been made as yet. In addition, spokesperson to the City of Cape Town traffic department, Maxine Bezuidenhout, said that Racehorse Rd was reopened at 23:00.
“At approximately 22:00 [Friday] night a MyCiti bus was set alight on Racehorse Road – between Omarumba and Koeberg Road. No injuries were reported. Racecourse road was reopened just before 23:00”.
No passengers injured
According to Ward Councillor for Bonteheuwel, the bus — Bus E203 of TBrT — had been emptied of passengers before it was set alight. In addition, Jermaine Carelse from City Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that no passengers were found on the bus.
On Sunday morning, MyCiTiBus issued an alert for a deviation on route T03 from Racecourse Road to Koeberg Road and Omuramba Road.
“Deviation on route T03 to turn from Racecourse Road onto Koeberg Road, left onto Bosmansdam Road and right onto Omuramba Road to Century City.”

Youth Day protests
As reported by GroundUP, the Dunoon office of City of Cape Town for Ward 104 was petrol-bombed on Youth Day when a group of approximately 30 people gained access to the premises.
The group, consisting mostly of youngsters according to a security guard on duty, threw a petrol bomb through the window. The Dunoon office was undergoing renovations at the time of the attack.
A City official confirmed that the bombing destroyed office furniture, computers, a printer, as well as equipment and building materials belonging to the renovating contractor.
