Here are Tshwane’s vehicle spiking hotspots

The City of Tshwane has ramped up police visibility on freeways identified as hotspots for vehicle spiking.

The city announced on Friday that it deployed Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) officers, along with members of the South African Police Service (SAPS)

Ramaphosa grants Yvonne Mokgoro a Special Official Funeral

President Cyril Ramaphosa has declared that retired Constitutional Justice Yvonne Mokgoro be honoured with a Special Official Funeral Category 1.

Justice Mokgoro, an esteemed member of the Order of the Baobab, passed away on 9 May at 73.

Bogus teacher costs Department of Education over R1 million

In a recent development, Ntombelanga Pretty Labane, 40, a bogus teacher, appeared before the Amersfoort Magistrate Court on Thursday.

The Hawks Secunda-based Serious Commercial Crime Investigation unit arrested him on charges of document fraud, which cost the Department of Education over R1 million.

Teacher remanded in custody for alleged rape of two minors

Authorities have remanded a 47-year-old primary school teacher from North West in custody for the alleged rape of two minors.

The teacher appeared before the Wolmaransstad Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 17 May.
