South Africa recorded 967 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) has said on Sunday.
This brings the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases to 2 896 943.
This increase of 967 new COVID-19 cases represents a 5.0 % positivity rate.
A further 51 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 87 052 to date.
“The cumulative number of recoveries is 2 760 093.”
The majority of new cases is in KwaZulu-Natal: 272 (28%), followed by Eastern Cape with 169 new cases (17%), the Western Cape with 115 (12%), and the Free State with 95 new cases (10%) provinces.
