A horrific encounter with a crocodile was not enough to stop lovebirds, Zanele Ndlovu and Jamie Fox (not THAT Jamie Fox) from proceeding with their wedding arrangements.

On Monday, 30 April, the couple were paddling down the Zambezi River, when the croc emerged from the water, pulling Ndlovu in and biting her arm off in the process, before her groom dived to the rescue, wrestling her off the grip of the beast.

She was pulled to safety by local guides who were close to the scene and was flown by helicopter to a hospital in Victoria Falls, before being transferred to a more specialised one in Bulawayo.

“Jamie swam over to where I was struggling with the crocodile that was trying to pull me to the bottom of the river and grabbed my waist and with the other hand he rained blows down on the crocodile,” Ndlovu told the Telegraph.

“The pain was excruciating but Jamie was by my side and I summoned the strength to fight through it.”

Unfortunately for her, a former Zimbabwean professional tennis player, there was too much damage to her arm and doctors could not rescue it. But her husband is happy that she is still alive.

“We were glad we still had our lives and managed to keep our wedding date, although we had to do with a much smaller venue,” Fox said.

Despite one half of the couple being excruciating pain, having lost a limb, the wedding went ahead the following day, albeit in a much smaller venue than was planned, as the bride walked down the aisle at the hospital where she was still being treated.

Unfortunately for the croc, it had to b e hunted down and killed for fears that it would hunt down tourists now that it had had a taste of human flesh.
