Cosmo City man airlifted after suffering severe electrical burns

A Cosmo City man was airlifted to hospital after suffering severe electrical burns earlier today, Monday, 30 January.

COSMO CITY MAN FOUND IN A CRITICAL CONDITION

At approximately 3pm, Emer-G-Med Paramedics responded to the scene of the electrocution in the Cosmo City area, north of Johannesburg.

“On arrival on scene, a forty-year-old male was found in a critical condition with life-threatening electrical burns.”

DECISION TAKEN TO AIRLIFT THE INJURED MAN

The Emer-G-Med media liaison officer further detailed that Emergency Care Practitioners worked fervently to stabilize him before a decision was made to airlift him with the assistance of the Netcare911 aeromedical helicopter to a specialist facility for the definitive care that he required.

“Reports from the scene are that he was conducting work for City Power when he was electrocuted. The necessary authorities were in attendance and will be conducting further investigations accordingly,” van Reenen said.

EMER-G-MED ATTENDS TO ANOTHER CRITICAL INCIDENT

Meanwhile, another person was airlifted following a structural collapse in Waterkloof Ridge, Gauteng

Just after 11am this morning Emer-G-Med reported that its paramedics responded to reports of a structural collapse at a residential property in the Waterkloof Ridge area.
On arrival on scene it was established that a scaffolding had collapsed on a building site injuring two men, one of them critically so.
Both men were treated and stabilized on scene before a decision was made to airlift the critically injured patient with the assistance of the Netcare911 aeromedical helicopter, to a specialist facility for the definitive care that he required.

Also, just before 4pm, Emer-G-Med reported that its paramedics together with multiple emergency service agencies responded to the scene of a light aircraft crash in the vicinity of the old Nelspruit Airport.
On arrival on scene, the aircraft was found in ruins. The pilot and only occupant was declared dead on arrival of paramedics.
The cause of the crash will be investigated by civil aviation authorities and the South African Police Services.
