Cold front heading for Gauteng this week

Winter might be gone, but it might be too soon to put your blankets away. SA Weather says a ‘huge’ cold front will hit Gauteng soon.

Just as we thought Spring was here to stay, the SA Weather Service announced two cold fronts

Although the first cold front made landfall on Saturday late evening, Gauteng residents will only feel the impact on Tuesday.

Regional forecaster Gauteng Weather said temperatures were expected to drop significantly.

Gauteng to experience another cold front

““Early forecast suggests cold front in Gauteng beginning early Tuesday,” said Gauteng weather in a tweet.

In the last five days, Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalang and North West enjoyed summer-like weather conditions with temperatures reaching 30°C for the first time since April.

According to the SA Weather Service, temperatures will drop to 18°C on Tuesday afternoon, as the cold front hits Gauteng. For the next two to three days, expect cool sunny conditions to be the order of the day.

No rain or strong winds expected in the northern region but a Yellow Level 1 warning for wind was issued in the Cape.

“Yellow Level 1 warning for Winds leading difficult driving conditions difficult driving conditions for small motor and high-sided vehicles, blowing around of loose debris, are expected over Central Karoo, Little Karoo,  Cape Winelands and City of Cape Town in the Western Cape, as well as southern parts of Northern Cape,” SA Weather said.
