Car hijacker shot DEAD in Durban

A Botched hijacking in Durban has left one alleged car hijacker killed after the victim returned fire in self-defence. Other accomplices fled unharmed

An alleged car hijacker ran out of luck this evening, Wednesday 16 November after being shot dead.

CAR HIJACKER KILLED AFTER FAILED ATTEMPT

It is reported that the car hijacker was gunned down after the victim returned fire in self-defence.

Emer-G-Med who were at the scene of the incident reported.

“At approximately 19h30 Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to the scene of a shooting incident on Jan Smuts Highway in the Sherwood area of Durban.

Reports from the scene are that a male approximately thirty years of age was found to have sustained fatal gunshot wounds and was declared dead on arrival of paramedics,” the company reported.

SUSPECT FOUND ALREADY DEAD ON THE SCENE

“Further information ascertained alleges that the deceased and his accomplices attempted to hijack a man at gunpoint when the victim fired a shot in defence of his life, killing the man.”

It is reported that his accomplices fled in an unknown direction.

POLICE TO FURTHER PROBE THE MATTER

The South African Police Services (SAPS) were in attendance and will be conducting the necessary investigation as required.

Meanwhile, another crew ran out of luck in July after one of its members was fatally wounded by a homeowner in Johannesburg.

The three intruders allegedly armed with a 9mm handgun and knives ran out of luck in a property in Mulbarton, Glenvista, south of Johannesburg on 2 July.

According to an active security company in the area, Fox Security, the intruders entered a home in Mulbarton, Glenvista and tried to rob a homeowner.
“The homeowner returned fire and fatally wounded one of the suspects, the second suspect was also shot and the third suspect broke his arm and wrist while fleeing the scene,” Fox Security reported.
