The Water and Sanitation Directorate will be doing planned work in parts of Cape Town, and this will result in water supply disruptions.

The maintenance is planned for Tuesday, 9 January.

PLANNED WATER OUTAGE IN CAPE TOWN

Maintenance work and planning for the replacement of defective isolation valves will result in water supply disruption to these areas:

Claremont/Newlands – Between Main Road, Albion Road, Klipper Road and Dean Street, as well as Bank Road, Arbor Road, Mount Road and surrounds

The City of Cape Town said the main supply to this area will be shut off temporarily between 09:00 and 18:00 on Tuesday, 9 January 2024.

“This will enable the maintenance team to do planning for the replacement of defective isolation valves. It will result in the disruption of the water supply for the duration of the exercise. Some areas will experience low water pressure and others no water,” the municipality said.

MILKY OR DISCOLOURED WATER MAY COME OUT

Furthermore, the City of Cape Town said for a short period after the supply has been restored, the water may be discoloured or look milky. This is because of trapped air in the pipe.

Residents have also been urged to store enough water in clean, sealed containers for use during this period.
