Home Affairs Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi will brief the nation on aspects relating to his department on the Thabo Bester and Nandipha Magudumana saga.

The two were found with multiple passports that were unstamped when they were arrested in Arusha, Tanzania. It has also been confirmed that Bester does not have a South African ID.

The Department of Home Affairs said Motsolaedi will brief the nation on Friday, 14 April on aspects such as identification and documentation.

FACEBOOK RAPIST UNDER 24/7 SURVEILLANCE

Authorities say highly trained officers will be guarding convicted rapist and murderer Thabo Bester at the Kgosi Mampuru II Correctional Centre in Pretoria, Gauteng.

Bester and his alleged lover Dr Nandipha Magudumana were deported from Tanzania and landed in South Africa in the early hours of Thursday, 13 April at the Lanseria Airport also in Gauteng.

Bester was taken to the C-Max at Kgosi Mampuru II Prison while Magudumana was taken to Bloemfontein.

During the briefing on Thursday morning, National Commissioner of the Department of Justice and Correctional Services Makgothi Thobakgale said given the type of offender that Bester is they have decided to place him under 24/7 surveillance.

“We have different sections, we then chose to accommodate him at C-Max because we’re also looking at the intensity of the security and the contact that we need to manage around him given the type of offender he is,” Thobakgale explained.

Furthermore he said Bester will be guarded by highly trained Correctional Services officials.
