Dr Nandi, who was known as the doctor to the stars, now faces a slew of charges, including for helping Thabo Bester escape as well as murder. She made an appearance in the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court on Thursday alongside a 44-year-old man who allegedly tampered with CCTV footage on the night Bester escaped the Mangaung prison.

“The charges Magudumana will be facing is the aiding and abetting the escape [of Thabo Bester]. She will also be facing murder for a number of bodies that we did find in her possession. Also, violation of bodies and also fraud charges,” said National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola during a media briefing.

‘ARE YOU OKAY?’

A journalist from Newzroom Afrika asked Dr Nandi if she was coping following their capture, but she didn’t say a word and merely nodded her head.

“How are you feeling? Are you okay?,” he asked her as she stood in the dock.

The case was postponed to Monday, 17 April 2023, for a possible bail application.

Bester was taken to the Kgosi Mampuri II prison in Pretoria where he will be among other high-profile convicted criminals.
