Planned power outage to affect five areas in eThekwini on Tuesday

On Wednesday, an essential maintenance-driven planned power outage is set to impact five areas in eThekwini.

In an effort to ensure the reliability and safety of the electrical infrastructure. EThekwini Electricity has scheduled an emergency planned outage at the Kloof Substation on 9 January 2024, from 09:00 to 12:00.

“EThekwini Electricity requires approximately 3 hours to safely replace the protection DC system at Kloof Substation,” said the Municipality.

Five areas to be affected in eThekwini

The affected regions include Chelmsfordville, Forest Hills, Kloof, Krantzkloof, and Padfield Park. EThekwini Electricity assures residents that this outage is a proactive measure to enhance the reliability of the electrical network and minimise potential risks.

Residents are advised to take necessary precautions during the outage period and plan accordingly.

Water supply issues in uMlazi

On the other hand, addressing water supply issues in the uMlazi area, the eThekwini Municipality is actively working to resolve disruptions.

Limited supply and insufficient inflow to uMlazi 2 and 4 Reservoirs. Along with their connected reservoirs on the Southern Aqueduct, contribute to this problem.

Municipal teams are vigilantly monitoring the situation, overseeing Reservoir 2 at the Durban Heights Treatment Plant and primary reservoirs in the Inner West, South, and Central Regions fed by the Southern Aqueduct.
