Angie Oeh, a talented 24-year-old Afrikaans rap artist, has died after she was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer.

In a poignant turn of events, young Afrikaans rap artist Angie Oeh, aged 24, has died following her struggle with recently diagnosed stage 4 lung cancer.

BREAKING NEWS – AFRIKAANS RAP SENSATION ANGIE OEH DIED IN HOSPITAL

The news of Angie’s death was confirmed on Sunday morning, with the announcement made by renowned South African rocker Francois van Coke.

Her manager, Wynand Myburgh, said Angie, who was also known by her birth name Angelique Greeff, was admitted to Life Wilgers hospital in Pretoria on 13 August 2023.

Unfortunately, she couldn’t overcome the battle, and she peacefully passed away on 19 August at 17:24.

SHE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH STAGE 4 LUNG CANCER SIX DAYS AGO

“Angie’s journey with cancer began when she was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer on 14 August 2023. After undergoing emergency surgery on 15 August, she underwent chemotherapy but faced complications after her second session on 18 August.

“This led to her hospitalization in the ICU due to low oxygen levels. Despite exhaustive efforts, Angie’s condition worsened as her organs began failing.”

He furthermore said Angie was surrounded by her loved ones, including her girlfriend Jolandri Van Der Walt, her mother Peach van Pletzen, and close friends and collaborators in her final moments.

ANGIE WAS SURROUNDED BY LOVED ONES IN HER FINAL MOMENTS

Angie’s music journey began in 2019 when she independently started writing, producing, and releasing her music.

However, it was her Afrikaans hit “Dis jou wyfie,” released in December 2021, that brought her to the forefront. Her innovative approach earned her recognition as the first Afrikaans mumble rhyme chatter, connecting with audiences through her fresh sound.

SHE USED HER ART TO ADDRESS CRITICAL SOCIETAL ISSUES

Beyond her musical talent, Angie used her art to address critical societal issues, particularly women’s rights and discrimination. Her unwavering commitment to change even in the face of opposition marked her as a trailblazer.
