A Bloemfontein sangoma was recently arrested for the possession of an unlicensed firearm.
According to police spokesperson Mahlomola Kareli the sangoma was arrested after Tactical Response Team members reacted swiftly to positive information.
“On Tuesday, 15 February 2022 at about 04:30, Botshabelo TRT members received information about an African male in possession of an unlicensed firearm.
“It is alleged that the information led members to a house in R Section, Botshabelo, where the suspect is residing. On arrival members searched the premises and found a revolver with 13 loose live rounds,” he said.
Kareli furthermore said the sangonma could not provide officers with a license. The sangoma, who is a Lesotho National was arrested for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm.
“The firearm will be sent for tests, to confirm if it was not used in the commission of a crime. He will appear in the Botshabelo Magistrate court soon,” Kareli concluded.

A 39-year-old alleged drug dealer of Bloemfontein was recently BUSTED for dealing in drugs and for being in possession of drugs worth thousands.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Thabo Covane said the man would appear in court soon on a charge of dealing with drugs.
“The police arrested the 39-year-old African man for dealing in drugs in Bloemspruit Phase 6 just outside Bloemfontein. On Friday, 11 February 2022 the Mangaung Metro Tactical Response Team operationalised intelligence-driven information about drug trafficking. The team arrived at the identified spot and searched the house.”

Covane said the total street value of seized drugs is estimated at R31 000.00.
