Bafana legend questions Helman Mkhalele’s role

“I was wondering why he [Broos] is not talking to Helman in Bafana games; those are the things that make a team click,” Williams added.

Former Bafana Bafana striker Mark Williams is struggling to see Helman Mkhalele’s impact in the national team.

The ex-Orlando Pirates and Bafana winger currently serves as assistant coach to Broos however Williams is concerned that his former teammate does not not enforcing things on the bench.

Mkhalele has been very quiet on the bench during the Afcon and many have questioned his role in the technical team.

“I was wondering why he [Broos] is not talking to Helman in games; those are the things that make a team click,” said Williams as per iDiski Times

Bafana take on Namibia on Sunday

“Because understand what the job is – from the coach to the players. Okay, he [Broos] is no longer speaking French, but speaks English but the mentality is not the same.,” he said.

Bafana take on Namibia on Sunday having lost their opener to Mali 2-0.

“I have seen players coming from South Africa, who went overseas and couldn’t make it. Do you know why? Not because they were not good enough, it is because they couldn’t understand the language.

“If you have a guy like Helman who doesn’t say anything or maybe he goes and talks to the players, then [that is the problem],”  Williams said.
