The tragic murder of baby Tasneem and her mother, Ayesha Nasir, rocked South Africa to its collective core last week.
After the gruesome discovery of their bodies on Thursday 14 January 2021, police spokesperson Colonel Moathse Ngoepe said they were searching for Ayesha’s husband, Neesham Nasir.
At the time, Provincial Police Commissioner Nneke Ledwaba ordered a 72-hour activation plan towards the apprehension of the double-murder suspect; Ngoepe did not rule out domestic violence as motive in his statement
Ayesha and the suspect reportedly had a traditional Muslim wedding ceremony in December 2020 after meeting in Randfontein, Johannesburg, four years ago through business connections.
Reports indicate that the suspect had been apprehended in Brixton. However, we are still awaiting official confirmation of the arrest and will include additional updates if and when received.
Ayesha’s mother, Annie Ash, spoke to Laudium Today earlier this week, saying the couple had planned a Christian wedding ceremony for 2021.
“I was supposed to be planning my daughter’s wedding, instead I’m planning her funeral. […] I wish he would have just phoned me and told me to go and fetch my babies, he didn’t have to take it this far”.
This is a developing story, more to follow.
