The African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal has hailed the matric class of 2023 for producing the highest number of distinctions in South Africa and, in the process, edging out the Western Cape under the Democratic Alliance.
KwaZulu-Natal was ranked second with a pass rate of 86.4% in public schools’ National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams.
The party acknowledges the vast improvement from 83% in 2022 to a stellar 86.4% in 2023.
“We want to salute all learners whose performance has ensured that KZN takes the second position for the first time since we attained democracy 30 years ago.
“We are encouraged by the cooperation between unions and our education department,” the party said.
