When will Amazon launch in South Africa?

The launch of Amazon will take place sometime in 2024 in South Africa. The store which is currently available in over 50 countries across the world, will open South African businesses to a global target market. The general manager of Amazon’s Sub-Saharan Africa division Robert Koen stated that the launch will provide local sellers, brand owners and entrepreneurs of all sizes the opportunity to grow their business.

When can independent sellers register their businesses on Amazon?

Amazon independent sellers make up more than 60% of the platform. It was announced in a statement that those who own a business or are independent sellers can register their business from October 17, 2023. Registering a business will allow sellers to reach a global market and provide convenience to their customers.

Amazon announced that its platform is for both small and medium-sized businesses. The GM stated that the company is looking forward to “providing local sellers, brand owners, and entrepreneurs — small and large — the opportunity to grow their business with Amazon”.
