Magashule blames Johann Rupert for his expulsion from the ANC

Former African National Congress (ANC) Secretary General Ace Magashule has accused wealthy businessman Johan Rupert of being behind his expulsion from the ruling party.
The party’s National Disciplinary Committee (NDC) confirmed Magashule’s expulsion from the political party on Monday, 12 June.
WHY WAS ACE EXPELLED FROM THE ANC?
Magashule was found guilty of bringing the party into disrepute after he attempted to suspend President Cyril Ramaphosa illegally in May 2021. He also failed to abide by an official instruction to apologise for the attempt.
The NDC gave Magashule seven days to respond and give reasons why he should not be ousted for his behaviour. He made no representations, according to the Committee.
“Consequently, the NDC confirmed the expulsion of comrade Ace Magashule from the ANC as a final sanction,” the party said.
As previously reported by The South African Magashule attempted to suspend Ramaphosa while there were calls for him to step aside due to his alleged involvement in the Free State asbestos tender corruption scandal. Ramaphosa gave the Special Investigative Unit (SIU) the authorisation to investigate the former SG’s tenure as Premier in the Free State.

MAGASHULE ACCUSES JOHANN RUPERT OF ‘CALLING THE SHOTS’
In an interview with Newzroom Afrika, Magashule said he was expelled a long time ago from the ANC because a certain Mr Rupert said that he wants him gone.
“I was expelled because a certain Mr Rupert said if you don’t expel this man, I am not going to support you Mr President. That decision was not taken in the country,” he said.
