The Toyota Supra is the Japanese brand’s turbocharged rear-wheel-drive sports car that was built in collaboration with BMW.

The three-pedal model went on sale at Toyota dealers from Wednesday, 10 May, according to Motorpress. In addition to a manual gearbox and less weight, the new model also features more power. There are also new paint options available.

Thankfully, the power upgrade is not limited to the manual version of the Toyota Supra, and the carmaker confirmed the two-pedal model also benefits from a power hike for the straight-six 3.0-litre engine from 250kW to 285kW.

The new manual Toyota Supra ups the ante to to four of GR models available locally with a manual transmission and three pedals either as standard (GR Yaris, GR Corolla) or as an option (GR Supra, GR86).

One of the benefits of fitting the manual gearbox and lighter 19-inch wheels is a weight saving of 21.8kg over the outgoing automatic model.

To achieve the perfect ergonomics, the console unit and the control for drive mode selection have been redesigned, Toyota says.

The Japanese carmaker has made the line-up simple to understand, the Toyota Supra is available in Manual (R1 417 500) and Auto (R1 451 800), according to IOL.

A five-services or 100 000km service plan is provided as well as a three-year or 100 000km warranty. Customers can also purchase extended service plans via their Toyota dealer.
