World’s first flying car available on pre-order for R5.6m 

Alef Aeronautics is already taking pre-orders for the world’s first flying car after FAA approved them to start road and air testing.

Social media was set abuzz after it was confirmed that the world’s first flying car was approved and Alef Aeronautics was taking pre-orders.

702 reports that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) gave Alef Aeronautics the green light to roll out road and air testing of their flying car.

WORLD’S FIRST FLYING CAR AVAILABLE ON PRE-ORDER

Against the backdrop of the green light, the US company is reportedly taking pre-orders for $300 000, which amounts to R5.6 million.

Several companies, including Elon Musk’s SpaceX, reportedly backed the startup.

No doubt this is one of its kind, and unconfirmed pictures of what the car will look like have dropped on the internet.

Business Insider has it that the flying car can take off vertically or horizontally. Apart from that, it has a carrying capacity of only two people. (Ultram) (Xanax)

It has a road range of about 320 kilometres and 170 kilometres flying range.

However, speaking on the new development, CEO Jim Dukhovny states that the certification limits the locations where it is permitted to fly.

CEO Jim Dukhovny also revealed how the car would operate: “It allows us to move closer to bringing people an environmentally friendly and faster commute, saving individuals and companies hours each week.

This is one small step for planes, one giant step for cars.”

DEPOSITS AND GENERAL QUEUES

The company has received over 440 people who have already paid deposits to join the general queue.

One can pay R2 800 to join the general queue and R28 000 to get priority access when the company start its deliveries in 2025.
