It will be family first this festive season for some of our favourite personalities.

The annual December and January holidays are just about upon us, and what better way to celebrate with your favourite people, at your favourite destination and with your favourite things!

However, many South Africans seem to be settling for a somewhat low-key festive season in 2020, and our local celebrities are largely following suit with the odd exception.

“I’ve decided this festive season, if COVID-19 preventative measures allow, I’m going to explore Kwazulu-Natal and go diving at Sodwana Bay and Aliwal Shoal — two of the biggest diving spots in South Africa.

“This isn’t a shock considering my big love of the ocean and ocean conservation, and it’s great to spend time locally, exploring what is on offer in a different province to my Western Cape,” Van der Westhuizen said.

Van der Westhuizen is also hoping to road-trip back home through KwaZulu-Natal, into Eastern Cape and towards the Western Cape, stopping over in towns like Port Alfred, Sedgefield and Knysna, if pandemic protocols allow.

Actress Nicole Bessick

The actress and boxing aficionado said she would be heading home to the Mother City of Cape Town to enjoy the festive season with her family and friends.

Professional rugby player Steven Kitshoff

The Stormers player has done some travelling during the lockdown, but this December it’ll be rugby — and family — first.

This was the first time in history that the Western Province would be playing Currie Cup rugby during the December period until late January, Kitshoff said.

Most of his time will be spent preparing for the rugby season “and hopefully winning the Currie Cup”, he said.

“During the off time I will be around Cape Town with my wife and family.”

Professional rugby player Christian Ambadiang

“I will be spending time with family and keeping safe this festive season,” said the player who is originally from Cameroon.

Author, model and businesswoman Sasha-Lee Taylor

The children’s book author and model say home is most definitely where it’s at for the holidays this December.

“This year has been quite a hectic one for us all, so I am looking forward to just being able to sit back and relax with my family and friends, and spending quality time with them at home,” Taylor said.

Professional rugby player Justin Geduld

Family, friends, food, festivities and fun times — those are the key ingredients for Geduld’s festive season.

“It’s always good to be home with the family for Christmas and enjoying one of the most festive times of the year.”
