Following a successful and highly acclaimed run of Rossini’s Barber of Seville in Paris, Yende is now in New York, tackling several projects and showing the world what South African talent looks like.

The soprano’s international acclaim is spreading even further as she has begun performing in Bellini’s I Puritani at the Metropolitan Opera. She got the role as the initial performer, Diana Damrau, fell ill.

Yende’s performance was called “a triumph”; “spectacular in every way” by the press and critics.

Yende is also currently performing as Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia at The Met. Following that, she will continue as Juliette in Gounod’s production of Romeo et Juliette.
