Richard Branson’s ‘Scarlet Lady’ will reportedly enter operations in April 2020 when its main trips will go to the Caribbean, via a base in Miami.

Virgin Group founder Richard Branson recently unveiled his new luxury cruise ship in Dover, a coastal town in England’s southeastern county of Kent.
It is reported that the ship, named Scarlet Lady, is the first of four Virgin Voyages ships which will come into service each year for the next four years. It is said that the fleet will offer adults-only cruising to a ‘new audience hungry for the luxury of a boutique hotel at sea’. The ship will also boast state-of-the-art technology and is targeted specifically at travellers looking for a more sophisticated cruise experience.

The Scarlet Lady will reportedly enter operations in April 2020 when its main trips will go to the Caribbean, via a base in Miami. In fact, routes on offer include a five-day sailing to Costa Maya in Mexico, Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic, and a quick getaway to Key West and Bahamas.
“The Scarlet Lady is truly special and we’ve worked with some of the world’s most sought-after designers, artists and architects to craft an extraordinary experience,” Branson said at the ship’s media launch last week. “I have dreamed of starting my own cruise line since I was in my 20s and I’m thrilled that moment has arrived.
“The benefit of our five decades in business in so many industries is that we can offer a voyage like no other.”
Features
Other features of the ships include interiors created by designers such as Tom Dixon, and on-board entertainment which takes inspiration from festivals. gigs, nightclubs, comedians, drag artists, and a variety of unusual shows feature, all unlike anything you will find at sea.
“Musical synergy and theatrical twists and turns – our events aim to transform your experience beyond your average off-Broadway (and floating at sea) show,” states Virgin Voyages’ official website.
The ship also features more than 20 eateries ranging from brunch bars to restaurants run by Michelin-starred chefs.
There is also a major focus on wellness with spas, gyms, yoga, wellness pools and even a mud room on-board.
Each ship contains 1 330 cabins, and nine in 10 Virgin Voyages staterooms will feature a balcony with an ocean view.
Virgin Voyages is also one of first cruise lines to use Climeon, a technology that utilises heat generated from the ship’s engines to generate electricity, thereby decreasing the demand for fuel.
