His acerbic wit, acid tongue, and charming demeanor make South Africa’s finest export the best possible person for the job. All the biggest stars in the music industry will be competing for the much-coveted awards, and Trevor Noah will be the Master of Ceremonies for the evening. Hey, perhaps 2020 is turning a corner after all?

He’s already started cracking the jokes on Tuesday. Noah, who has previously been nominated for a GRAMMY, will now have to hand over awards to other artists – whether that’s done digitally or in-person remains to be seen. But you just get the sense that our homegrown sensation is already in the mood for the glitzy affair:

“Despite the fact that I am extremely disappointed that the GRAMMYs have refused to have me sing or be nominated for Best Pop Album, I am thrilled to be hosting this auspicious event.”

“I think as a one-time GRAMMY nominee, I am the best person to provide a shoulder to all the amazing artists who do not win on the night because I too know the pain of not winning the award! (This is a metaphorical shoulder, I’m not trying to catch Corona.) See you at the 63rd GRAMMYs!”

At the same time, it’s very exciting to have one of our biggest stars take the hosting responsibilities. It’s yet another example of our combined company’s power in music, entertainment, and the biggest live events.”
