Four men are making headlines after they were nabbed and charged with theft of an 18-carat golden toilet from Blenheim Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Southern England.

The toilet was once valued at $5.9 million, which is around R100 million. Undoubtedly, the toilet has made all sorts of headlines over the years. However, little is known if the toilet, best known as “America”, had been recovered after being stolen.

FOUR CHARGED OVER THEFT OF R100 MILLION TOILET

According to recent reports, the authorities had no immediate comment on its status. The golden toilet was also displayed at New York’s Guggenheim Museum.

However, confirmed reports have it that the toilet was part of an art exhibit by an Italian conceptual artist. Confirmed reports have it that the burglars broke into the heritage site with vehicles and took the 18-carat golden toilet in 2019.

After the incident, James Sheen, 39, was nabbed and charged with several counts, including burglary. Other three Michael Jones, Fred Doe and Bora Guccuk, also in their 30s – were also charged. However, the four men will appear for sentencing in court on 28 November.

Photos of the golden toilet and the vandalised bathroom have been making headlines in the backdrop of the burglars latest court sitting. The toilet is said to be one of the most expensive toilet seats ever made.
